Are you ready for the new WEL limits?

From December 1st, 2026, Australia will adopt the new Workplace exposure limits for airborne contaminants.

Persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) must eliminate or minimise risks in the workplace from airborne contaminants so far as is reasonably practicable.

MSS are working with employers in undertaking reconfiguration of portable and fixed detection systems over the coming months as part of the changes, to ensure your alarm points and exposure limits are correctly set to the new ‘limits’.

The limits (previously standards) in place commencing December 1st, 2026, can be found on Safework Australia’s information page.

Is your business ready?

It is prudent to prepare in good time for the roll out, ensuring critical operations, SOP and policies remain compliant.

MSS is working with all our gas monitoring clients during this roll out to ensure detection equipment is configured correctly in time for the changes, with the explicit permission of the equipment owners before any changes are made.

Provide details of your units and we will provide information on reconfiguring your equipment to the new ‘limits’.
