90k Fine For Winery Shed Fall PDF Print E-mail

A Winery has been fined AUD90,000.00 after an early guilty plea relating to a 2009 site incident which saw a man seriously injured and left blind in one eye after a fall from a roof. The Industrial Magistrate called the incident 'forseeable and easily preventable'.

Falls make up approximately 20% of all workplace injuries. It is essential that all high risk operations, such as working at height, in or on confined spaces, are conducted in accordance with a well defined safe system of work and with stringent safety measures by persons who are properly trained and competent to complete specific tasks.
